It’s time for the seventh edition of the SaloneSatellite WorldWide Moscow, international forum for creativity and moment of encounter between young emerging designers and the companies participating in the Saloni WorldWide, with an eye toward recognizing the potential of a prototype and turning it into a marketable product. From 12-15 October at Crocus Expo, Moscow. An opportunity not to be missed.
Following on the success of last year’s edition, we celebrate the ritual of young creativity again this year with the 7th edition of the SaloneSatellite WorldWide Moscow – 32 young designers, selected from more than 100 of the most promising students of the finest design schools from Russia and the former Soviet republics. Not an easy choice, given the quality and variety of the proposals, which ranged from the mostrigorously classical to the most innovative and culturally eclectic.
Operating in total synergy with the Saloni WorldWide Moscow, the SaloneSatellite WorldWide Moscow – also organized by Cosmit and FederlegnoArredo – will open its doors from 12-15 October at Crocus Expo, Pavilion 2, this year focusing on the future.
After sustainability, wellness and internationalism, the theme of the 2011 edition is “Designing the Future” – carried over from the latest edition in Milan – particularly suited to the core spirit of the SaloneSatellite as a springboard for the young people destined to write the future of design.
The young designers selected for the exhibition, by country: Russia (Svetlana Agiyan, Natalia Arefyeva, Pavel Balykin, Darsing, Anna Denisenko, Elena Dushkevich, Dmitry Galkin, Denis Kalinin, Katerina Kopytina, Olga Kryukova, Anastasia Maltseva, Maxim Maximov, Yaroslav Misonzhnikov, Katerina Papush, Polina Privalova, Daria Shashorina, Olga Shmeleva, Olga Solomatina, Jaroslavna Trukhina, Olesia Volhina, Peter Zaytsev/Arseniy Borisenko); Kazakhstan (Timur Makulov A.K.A Tim Mackool); Latvia (Arturs Analts, Liene Jakobsone/Sampling, Indra Merca, Aigars Mezdreijs); Ukraine (Natali Aulova, Nastasia Fomina, Viktor Puzur, Michael Samoriz/Ivano Frankivsk, Kateryna Sokolova, Voda Design).
The increasingly competitive selection process is entrusted, as always, to a Selection Committee composed of design professionals: Barbara Abele, Associate Professor, Art Academy of Latvia; Denise Archiutti, Group Controller, Veneta Cucine; Ricardo Bello Dias, architect; Dante Benini, architect; Alexey Dorozhkin, Editor-in-Chief, Elle Decoration; Beppe Finessi, design critic; Carlo Guglielmi, President, Cosmit; Patrizia Malfatti, Image & Communication Director, Fondazione Cosmit Eventi; Maria Malyutina, Deputy Director, ArtFuture Design School; Manuela Messina, Research & Development, Flou; Annachiara Sacchi, journalist, Corriere della Sera; Cosimo Savio, Development Manager, Savio Firmino; Marva Griffin Wilshire, curator, SaloneSatellite.
The award ceremony will take place on Friday, 14 October at 12 noon. The top three contestants will be invited to the 2012 flagship edition of the SaloneSatellite at the Fiera Milano (Rho), next 17-22 April. Last year, the winners invited to Milan were Elena Tseluiko (Ukraine), Sergey Kudakov (Russia Furniture design) and Martins Vitols (Lithuania). Once again, the SaloneSatellite WorldWide Moscow confirms its status as the premier opportunity for young designers to enter in direct contact with the experience and know-how of the best design companies.
